Hi Everyone,
I’m currently working on the outskirts of Dublin for a few days, and I am hoping to find time over the next couple of evenings to visit the City Centre. Obviously, I’d like to find some decent traditional music to listen to.
I’m fairly familiar with the city centre as I’ve been an occasional visitor for the last 10 or so years, but are there any good sessions that I don’t know about?
I know O’Donaghues on Merrion Row, but the quality in there seems somewhat variable (it was dreadful last time I visited). Oliver St John Gogarty’s on Temple Bar has trad music, but it’s very much staged entertainment rather than a session (having said that, there was a very good whistle player playing there a few weeks ago).
Please note that I am not intending to try and sit in on a session (not good enough - yet) - I just want to listen to some tunes and hopefully, chat with a whistle player or two.
