Sunday 17th October 2004 will see the ‘Dry Dock Tionol’ in Oxford. The workshops and general gathering take place from 2-7pm at The Friends Meeting House, St Giles. I have not seen the article about the floating tionol, is it from the nice lady who visited us on the boat for one day? Is the magazine online so that I can read the article? Funnily enough, as we will be in a Quaker Meeting House, very dry indeed! Although anyone desperate for a swift half can pop next door to the Eagle and Child, where JRR Tolkien and CS Lewis used to get inebriated.
The second part of the Tionol is at the Half Moon pub, where heavy drinking is most encouraged. Sunday nights used to go on long into Monday morings until recent Police busts. One of the regulars ‘Black Tom’ was once found unconcious in the gents, with his trousers 'round his ankles, a turd in the urinals and a cigar up his arse!
yes I heard a version of that story down in a tiny Kerry town but it was the gardí.

Congratulations on a job well done, Sean! If it gets any more popular you’ll have to find a bigger venue.Both Brian and Chris gave really interesting demos and were so generous with their time and energy. Thanks are due to the three of you, well done!!! Wasn’t that young lady impressive? While my fingers and brain cells tried their best she just watched once and picked everything up straight away. No wonder she’s an All Ireland Champion already. I can’t wait for the next Floating Tionol, though at this rate it could become a convoy. Sincere thanks.
