Drone cork

Hello folks,
I,m fairly new to the U pipes, about a year and I’m on the 3rd song of the video. I just upgraded my O’Grady to a half set and I was wondering what is used for the drone stop at the bag. I’m nowhere near ready for Drones but what the hay! Also, are thereany pipers in the Knoxville TN. area that could spare a lesson. I’m afraid I could be devolping some bad habits. Thanks

There are four pipers listed in Tennessee, they would know if someone is close to you.

i got some good advice at the NE tionol which may be relevent. i attended this year to just listen, not yet having received my pennychanter.

an instructor there (his name escapes me but he plays beautifully)had an interesting perspective. he said that starting without the drones present is usually an economic decision and a reality issue (many who start will not continue with UPs). from a pure educational standpoint, according to him, we would all do better to have the drones present almost from day one so we do not have to radically change our grip or posture later when the drones arrive. of course, they should not necessarily be turned on. but can’t you just leave them off for the time being? why a cork? i ask because i expect to have drones within a year or so, and i am not sure i will be “ready” for them.

It is much better to have the drones on if possible from the beginning as you will be able to gauge the pressure you are using from the sound of the drones?drone even. You should have a constant steady sound if you don’t something is wrong, normally using the bellows instead of the bag(jerking movements)You will be surprised(pleasantly) how quickly you will adapt to the drone/drones.Don’t forget the pipes are a dronal instrument so there is no reason not to play them!
