Got a new African Blackwood Bb for my collection off a local maker and although instrument plays well enough, after a while (half hour or so) it starts to struggle especially on the top register , has anyone any quick solutions or bore polishing tips , been at with the mop but looks like a generation of work .

I’m imagining that the bore is quite roughened and is holding the condensation too well, CT? You can polish it safely with fine steel wool wrapped around a dowel, if necessary using a power drill to spin the rod. (If you do that, make sure to start and stop the drill gently with the end of the rod already in the flute section, and holding the flute section in a gloved hand. Running round the house with a long rod wrapped in steel wool spinning and whipping around at high speed is unlikely to end well!) Make sure to oil the flute thoroughly after polishing the bore.
You mention the flute maker is “local” - if so, he or she might prefer to undertake the polishing, especially if the flute is within the warranty period. The maker might also have advice on oiling.
