Doyle flute based on which historical model?

I’m curious if anyone knows the historical model used for Martin Doyle’s keyless flutes or if they are of his own design. At our Wednesday night session, I was comparing a friend’s Doyle with my recently acquired McGee Metzler keyless and they appeared nearly identical in length, hole spacing, and hole size.

Thanks for any info,

Michael

Michael- what is the diameter of your Metzler at the foot end of the body? my Doyle is “large-ish” at about 14mm where the body-foot joint would be. for comparison see http://mcgee-flutes.com/bores.htm.

enjoy! /dan
