double your pleasure

Some friends came by to give me a gift of an inexpensive wooden whistle (six holes). They bought it from a shop in Claremont, CA. I went to the website and clicked on flutes and recorders. In the middle of that page are some double flutes.

Click on flutes and recorders and scroll to the middle of the page to see the pictures.
“With a double flute you play the melody on one side and the other side provides the drone in the root note of the flute - it sounds like two people are playing. Double flutes have a double mouthpiece so you can switch from a double flute to a single flute instantly without adjustments. Our style is unique and generates more amplitude (volume) and the drone plays the low and high octaves easily.”

Anyone have one of these or similar? What is it like?

BTW, the gift whistle has a label, “hand made in Sri Lanka for Brimful House.” It seems close to tune despite being wood. However it requires a lot of air, and the bell note (lowest D) is difficult to coax out. I have seen similar wood whistles in gift shops and Cost Plus and Pier One for $5 or so.
