Does "Easy Cheese" go out of date?

I won’t argue re: the biscuits. It was in IHOP. They were totally lacking in snappy biscuity-ness.

I’m sorry. As much as I love the south, I just CANNOT do grits (I can’t do cream of wheat or maypo, either). It’s not the taste, it’s the texture that gets to me. However, Tom likes them - he puts Tabasco on them.

I can’t do “sweet” tea, either. If I wanted a glucose drip in my arm, I’d put one there.

But biscuits and REAL sausage gravy? Now THAT’S good eatin’!!!

If the gravy I had was sausage gravy, the pig was anaemic.

OTOH, IHOP did serve up a mean waffle with blueberries, so they are forgiven.

Ihop is not a good example of good American cooking, any more than Ryan’s Staekhouse is representative of “good backyard grilling”. It’s relatively bland, tastless stuff that can get knocked out in a hurry for folks who have neither the time, money, or abilty inclination to serve up some good breakfast for themselves.

I second this.

Grits are sublime when prepared properly. The only thing better is a sausage-gravy biscuit.

The hitch is that they have to be prepared from scratch . . . not instant and not made with a mix that came in a can.

Yup, or people on holiday who need somewhere they can eat after a five hour flight followed by an hour getting from the airport to their hotel, on a rainy Sunday evening in Boston and it’s the only place open within range that isn’t McDonalds.

I do use Jiffy mix for my bisquits. I’ve never been able to make them correctly from scratch. They end up like rocks.

I wouldn’t eat it even if it were fresh.

That too. I like a lot of crap food but haven’t succumbed to canned spray cheese food substitute yet.

I tried it once at a party here, just to see what it was like. Eww.

Yes. And I can prove it. I think McDonald’s makes the best fries ever.

I haven’t tried “Easy Cheese” but its a safe bet its not Dublin cheddar. I prefer cheeses which which play hard to get instead of “easy” cheeses.

Edited: Thought the better of saying what I just said.
