Im looking at the early set of uilleann pipes on the srs journal. The throat distance from bell lies somewhere between 342mm and 363mm. Does anyone happen to know the measurement?

Bob, according to the measurements the throat will be between 342 and 353.5 (not 363). One can deduce from the shape of the curves that it will be closer to 353, I would reckon between 351 and 352. (See jkenna.xls.)
Rather than rely on the throat size to determine whether your reamer insertion distance is right, I’d suggest spot checking a number of depths instead.

Just so Im absolutely clear, the bass drone is parallel bore all the way? This chanter feels very strange after holding a concert pitch Rowsome style. The reed I need is based on a tenor reg reed I believe? Ill get cracking on that tonight.
