… where I can find a copy of my all time favorite book? I have tried for years now to find a copy, but because it has long been out of print, all my efforts have been futile. I have come as close as finding the title being listed… but alas, no copies were to be had.
The name of the book is Brendan Chase, and the author is only listed as BB, and I have not been able to find out anything about them. It was first published in England, and I am assuming the author is English as well.
This book tells the story of three brothers who are forced to live with their strict auntie while their father (who is stationed in India) and mother are out of the country.
Rather than deal with the auntie and boarding school, the brothers decide to steal their gardener’s 22 cal. rifle and run away to a forest reserve near them called Brendan Chase, where they make a go of living off the bounty of the wild. They also meet up with a charcoal burner named Smokey Joe, who eventually betrays them to their father once he has returned.
Any assistance in my obtaining a copy of this book would be greatly appreciated. I first had it read to me when I was 12 years of age, and have been looking for it ever since.
