Does acetone melt MoTS?

I removed the pick guard from an ald Harmony arch top that I’m modifying, saw that the underside and the hardware were looking a little ratty, and decided to spruce them up. On my way to the sink I passed the solvent shelf, and grabbed a bottle of acetone. Halfway to the sink I though…uh-uh. Maybe just water this time.

So now I’m curious. Would acetone melt 40s plastic tortiseshell?

Acetone is a pretty aggresive solvent. Try methanol first.

Acetone will melt anything that you do not want melted. Somehow, it knows.

I wouldn’t trust a Keytone to clean anything, but I’ve never been a rockabilly fan.

probably, but chloroform or carbon tet would do a much better job of it.
