I would love to find a seller in Europe for Dobani whistles. This because the shipping costs is 10 times higher than the value of these whistle from the US, payment is often complicated, and shipping time is long. Have anyone a tip where I could try to find one in Britain, Germany or another European country? Google gives me only US shops.
Thanks!
Background story and additional question:
I love me cheap (10$+) low D whistle. In spite of warnings I bought it. After buying many more flutes, it’s still my favorite! The sound is lovely, the range is easy in two octaves and even further.
It had a leakage in the mouth peace. And some small cracks from start. I repaired it with bee wax. But I never cared to oil it…
Today I brought it with me, in a winter cold car. As playing at the school where I’m working, it cracked up several places from the mouth piece and down. I fixed it with duct tape to keep up playing… That will work for the little amateur christmas concert…, I hope. I brought it in my car back home inside my winter jacket, strange to drive with half a meter whistle attached to my body… Now I would love to get a new one quick, I would buy 2 or 3 if I only could find a seller.
What kind of oil should I use for my bamboo whistles?
And get yourself a Quenacho, bit (lot) more expensive then the Dobani but superb quality and very robust, I’ve had the Concert Jacaranda for two years and with an occasional oiling, it’s as good as new.
I was in Carousel Music in Haywards Heath today http://www.carousel-music.co.uk/ and they have some Nabi bamboo whistles in stock (having seen these it jogged my memory and it’s Nabi they stock at Hobgoblin, Leeds not Dobani .. apologies)
Lowest they had was a G at £8.00, they also had a couple of C’s
It absolutely helps. I didn’t find it in their internet shop, but that was what you told me, not everyting is listed. I could call and ask. I guess they could give me other suggestions too, for shops in Europe/Britain.
Was the C a low C? I would rather have a low D, but wouldn’t mind to try the C. Yes I saw that in the Hodgoblin they had the other brand. I think I would stick to Dobani, I actually somehow trust that brand…
