Many thanks to Dale for allowing me to post this. ![]()
Approximately 1500 employees of the Department of Veterans Affairs, out of a total of 4000 federal employees, are still missing from the area affected by Hurricane Katrina.
The VA is trying to locate these employees, who may not know that their jobs are secure, that they can work at another medical center if necessary, and relief programs have been set up for them. We want to find them rather desperately, as we need them to provide for the patients we’re receiving from Katrina. Their coworkers are very worried about them. They may be anywhere in the country by now. ![]()
A toll-free number has been set up so that they can let the VA know where they are. We’ve been asked to disseminate this number through any means available.
If you know a VA employee affected by the storm, or someone who might know of one, would you please give them this message from the VHA Public Affairs Office?
Employees should call 1-888-766-2474 as soon as possible to provide their name, position title, location and contact number.
Thanks.
