I was just looking at http://www.hobgoblin-usa.com and saw that they’ve listed a Tony Dixon Trad low D. There’s no picture available yet, but it’s described as having an ABS head and brass body like the higher keys. Price is listed as $155.
There’s no listing for it yet at his site (http://www.tonydixonmusic.co.uk/catalogue/dixonshop.html) and the product code listed on Hobgoblin doesn’t match any of the codes on his site.
So… it looks like it is indeed a new low D model that’s part of his Trad line. Has anyone heard about this yet? I look forward to more info and reviews…
BTW- the Hobgoblin site won’t let me link directly to it, but it’s under the “Metal/Plastic Top Whistles” category.

I called Hobgoblin - it’s been removed - seems like it was a mistake (?)
Hrmm. Strange.
And thanks to the mod that got the link working.
They do exist. I just saw one in a music shop here in Scotland. It was marked “trad”. Maybe just a brass version of his other metal low d. I took a photo and will post shortly.
Thanks, Gordon. It looks exactly like a scaled-up (or down) version of the Dixon Trad D. Which means, I would say, that it has good potential.
Quite expensive though. As you can see from the price labels. That shop stocks everything from Generation through to Ormiston.
Sadly (for us), it’s hard to find something like that in the States. D’ya think that maybe WalMart… Nah, never mind.
Best wishes.
Steve

Hey Nico, are you Nicolai from Folkfriends? If so, what about some clips? I’ve always enjoyed these Folkfriends-clips a LOT!
Yes - thats right. Thanks. I will make some clips. Still I had not found time because there was so much to do the last weeks. But I´ll post them here. Actually I can only make videos of the alto ones. My hands are so small that it simply doesn´t work with the low D. Not even with pipers fingering.
But I think Calum Stewart will come visiting soon. I might ask him if he has time.
Best,
Nico
