Different metals of mine DBSBT

Hi all!
Recently I have received from Michael DBSBT. Excellent whistle!
Undoubtedly, it is one of the best whistle now.
Apparently from the name, a material is the brass.
But I have noticed one interesting feature. The central part whistle which sometimes name “joint” has a little other color, than whistlehead and whistlebody. This part has more pink shade. This metal reminds me bronze. At first sight this difference is difficult for noticing. I have paid attention only to the second day.
There are at somebody ideas concerning application of this metal?
Can, ask Michael…

There are many different brass alloys, sometimes with slightly different colors, so I’m guessing that Michael got two different ones when he ordered metal stock for his whistles.

Very much can be… Though I, on Michael’s place, most likely would notice a difference, and have tried to pick up identical alloys
Though, maybe, also would not notice a difference if make simultaneously a little whistles. Thus, at me - exclusive whistle

Yes, my DBSBT also has this. But you could always ask Michael, he replies mails very quickly.
And you’re right, it’s a very fine instrument!

Both brass and bronze are metal alloys. A mixture of different metals.
Bronze is made primarily of copper and tin, and brass is copper and zinc.
Other metals (lead, nickel, iron, aluminum, manganese, and the element silicon) may be added to either for differant purposes. Depending on what and how much will vary the color. Hopefully, whistles are not made of bronze containing lead. Most of the time lead is only added to bronze when making a machine bearing. The lead content produces less friction.

Just friction also suggests… In fact whistlehead slides in “joint”, providing tuning…
