Hi everyone, I haven’t used these forums for a while, but I was wondering if there is anyone in Norwich (UK) that has, or knows anyone who has a spare, well working uilleann pipe reed they are willing to sell to me. I’m studying music at UEA in norwich, and I have a really important recital on teh 19th, and my reed fecking cracks (typical sods law really), so it is a matter of great importance… I’m offering cash, and a pint on me.
Why not contact the London Uilleann Pipers’ Club:
I have had very good luck with Brian Howard’s off-the-shelf reeds:

Ye could try a smidge o super glue on the crack and lightly sand it.That may be enough,it has been for me in the past.
Uilliam
yep, uilliam’s right. I have some cracked reeds that have been playin’ well for years. be careful, might even insert thin plastic, you don’t want that crazy glue anywhere but the crack.
Give Chris Bayley a ring! he’s live’s in Red Hill just south of London, he’ll fix you up. all the best.
