Desperate for a good Eb whistle!

Heya,

Does anyone have a suggestion about a good Eb whistle that would be available right away and isnt too loud? The Water Weazel might be too loud for my taste, as I will most of the time play the Eb at home. I have one or two Generation Eb but they suck. Do you know if O’brien makes tweaked Eb? Thanks for any advice.

IMHO: Burke…Brass or Aluminum… Absolutely…
Cheers.

Byll, are you saying that there is no waiting list for the Burkes? I thought that even George Bush was waiting to have one of these whistles.

Hmm… I’ve always considered Eb to be the best key for Generations.
O’Briain has recently started making a tweaked Eb… Steve has them at Shanna Quay.

Thanks raindog, I think I ran out of luck with my Generation Eb purchases. My local whistle shop only sells nickel Eb, but maybe if I go through dozens of them I might find a very good one… Oh well, I’ve had worse problems…

I have a Parkhurst E-flat which is a wonderful little whistle. (Well, actually it’s my wife’s whistle.)

You can hear what it sounds like at

Not saying this is the one and only way to go, only providing another good choice.

Best wishes,

Hello, Azalin:

The last Burkes I ordered were received in under one month. Two were actually received within 2 weeks of order. No magic, here. As you know, Mike offers a true smorgasbord of whistles. At times, he is over-optimistic concerning delivery times of whistles just put into production. At other times, he runs out of advertised units…I have had both experiences, and have waited a frustratingly long time for product…It happens, and is no fun…

But if the order is for a unit in stock, especially in the less popular keys, the wait can be very short, indeed.
My suggestion to anyone is to e-mail Mike and find out the situation. He is honest, forthright, and a fine person with which to deal…
Cheers and best…

I have a great Generation tweaked red top E flat, you want it? I don’t use it.

Anna,

It’s tweaked in which way? Would you record a tune or two? I might be interested, if you’re selling it under 1000$US

IF money’s no object, the Copeland site shows that there are several Eb’s just sitting there waiting to be bought.

So, did you see this, Az? It’s a lot of money, but if you’re really in a hurry…

Blackhawk, thanks, but the Copelands are way too loud for my taste. I used to have a High D Copeland which I exchanged for 2 Sindt whistles… This O’Briein (again spelled wrong) is very interesting, will need to “use” a few contacts I have in Ireland to get one or two shipped to me

Boghill Bill -
My Sindt Eb is one of my absolute favorite whistles (and you know I’ve owned/played quite a few). I simply do not have a sweeter whistle. I think it is quite a bit better than my Sindt D, which I hold in very high regard. I know that you may have to wait a while to get a Sindt, but it’ll be the whistle-to-beat once you do. Perhaps you could put out an advert on this list asking whether anyone would like to sell you theirs.
Best,
Chris
P.S. - I’ll be in Ireland in two weeks, for two weeks. You won’t happen to be around will you?

Heya Chris,

Yeah, the Sindt might be my best choice, but there again, 8 months… So, how much???

That’s bad timing, I won’t be around. Where are you going to be, in Clare?

Hello,

I have a Water Weasel Eb which is one of the best playing/in tune whistles I own. It’s not too loud either and has a very smooth high end. Failing that I’d also suggest a brass generation

Cheers

Barry

Parkwood,

Are you sure the Weazel isnt that loud? I know that the C and D are pretty loud, would you say the Eb is relatevely quieter.

There’s no Eb Weazel in stock at the whistleshop, do you know any other shops who might have it in stock, or do you know if Glenn is still available through e-mail?

Shanna Quay sells Generation Eb whistles. You even get a free Doolin whistle with any order! 2 for the price of 1! Cool, eh?

It would be funny if Azalin did order one from Shanna Quay.
