A friend of mine has a set of Fred Morrison Reelpipes and recently had a new bag put on. The bag is double-skinned deer hide and I guess it’s tremendously responsive. They will be standard on Fred’s pipes from my understanding.
Has anybody heard of these bags or tried one on uilleann pipes?

Seems like I read someone saying “I tried deerhide, won’t do that again…” on this list recently.
I guess the bag is double-skinned because there’s an adhesive layer between the deerhide layers making it airtight? Even porous leather can be used that way I think; in fact I do this with my bellows, I often use two layers of rather porous lambskin or a similar soft leather, with a layer of contact cement between which forms an (hopefully long-lasting) airtight layer.
My own bellows, made this way, has lasted over 10 years, so I guess it works…
