decided to learn to read music

yeah, I think I should learn to read music, I am actually the ear learning type, I’ve been whistling (by mouth) all my life now, actually very good too, can whistles tunes with ease, but I guess being able to read music would simplfy the matter quite a bit.
I made little cards, about 15 of them, on the one side the note in the notation-staff (starting low D, ending high C), on the other side the corresponding whistle grip and the letter of the corresponding note.
If anyone else wishes to learn to read notes I’d be glad to scan all these cards into my computer and send it to those as a jpeg-file, all you gotta do is cut them out again and paste the two corresponding little cards together, presto.
Cheers, Amar.

Good luck! You’ll find whole new vistas in music open for you. Just remember that Irish music is at its root and very oral/audio tradition.

I’ve been reading music over 30 years now, but only use it to learn the basic tune, then I wean myself of the music so I can concentrate on the the other stuff.

Good luck!

Hey Amar! If you’ve got those card scanned I’d love to have a copy, thanks! You can send them to the username avanutria at yahoo mail. If you get a lot of requests for them I can put them on my webpage temproarily so people can download them.

Hey,
That is great! My sister plays the piano so well…and for most of her life she just played by ear. She is excellent now. She can read music now also…but started out by just playing by ear. I know you can do it. I play by ear somewhat also…but I can read music. When you can read the notes and play them…especially when a song comes out and not a jumbled mess…you get the greatest feeling of accomplishment. Good luck! Let me know how it goes. ~Mimi

I would love a copy of those cards too. My email address is ty6897@yahoo.com. I think they would really help out with learning to read sheet music. What a good idea! Thanks.
