December decisions

As much as I dislike decisions,
My address needs a few revisions.
My email is so full of spam
From merchants that don’t give a care
About invading others’ ter-
ritory! So here’s my story and my tale:
I have a dif-fer-ent email.

hoover.mc@gmail.com

Mack

I have often been tempted to do the same.

However, I do have one suggestion. I would use some method to obscure the email address in your original post. Substitute something for the @ symbol or spell out the periods. Something like that.

I have a feeling spammers scrape addresses off this list from time to time.

They do most certainly.

In the code of the page, having the email in the body of the message or under the “email” button makes no difference to email harvesting programs.

I’ve been on this board for years, and haven’t ever gotten much spam in my tinwhistler.com email address–well, except one time 2-3 years ago when I was having a disagreement with someone in the forums and suddenly found myself signed up to a couple of dozen multi-level-marketing and porn sites. But I imagine that was the action of a specific poster. Heh.

I’m not trying to hide, just doing a little evasive maneuver.
Quite a few folks I know have recommended gmail because it has better spam protection. We’ll see…

PS I do have some information on my Announcements page that might be of interest to some.

Spam harvesters most definitely scrape web pages for email addresses. You should remove yours at once and replace it with something else, like

hoover dot mc at gmail dot com

That’s why you’ve seen that on other forums, in case you didn’t know. I’d even be trickier and put something like [remove this spam garbage] in it as well.

If real people can’t figure out your email address from tricky stuff like that, they can ask for help.
