Dearga - Do your self a favor and check them out!

I just wanted to share with you guys what two dear friends of mine are up to. Mathew (guitar/voice) & Shannon Heaton (flute, whistle, button accordion & voice) of Siucra moved to Boston about a year ago to join in on the rich Traditional scene. Since they’ve been there they’ve been busy! Siucra still plays together for tour dates but Matt & Shannon have put together their own duo that they just shared with me today… check them out at:

I’ve been sick most of the week and wasn’t feeling great this morning… Listening to some of their new tunes of their site though lifted my spirits! I know you will be blessed by their music.

So do yourself a favor, and check them out… Heck, learn the tunes that you can download… Shannon’s sense of feel & timing is inspiring… There’s also a really cool picture of Shannon playing the whistle on their Tour Dates page… Might give Andrea a run for her money!

All the best,

That link didn’t work and gave me a “Page cannot be displayed”. It may just be my screwy interent, but are you sure that’s the correct link? Thanks

It seems at this moment Saturday Feb. 8/03 at 4:51 PM EST any link to that site is not connecting. I did a google search on all key terms and all returned 404.

Try tomorrow.

They might be working on their site right now… Not sure… They just sent out their newsletter as well. Maybe their server can’t handle a bunch of traffic… I dunno… I guess check back in a bit… Hmm…

Hi Blayne is it possible you transposed “eats” for “east”?

I can’t get anything to come up on Siucra’s site, but here are some pictures to entertain us while waiting:

I checked it out about an hour ago, and it was working fine, so the link is not broken, it might be a server or something. Anyways, I’m happy that they are playing near me, maybe I’ll make it down to the Boston area sometime (in my dreams, but one can only hope!) Any chance of them playing First Night Worcester?

The link is working now, I just checked.

I have to say that Shannon Heaton is just about one of the coolest people around- she’s my tinshistle teacher and she’s great, a livly, fun spirit, just really really awesome…

she’s also a awesome teacher and great player- I saw her and her husband perform at a local venue- they opened for Bohola I believe, that day- anyway they are great. Just really awesome people- that’s my two cents

I finally got the site. Sorry Blayne for questioning the link.

I have seen Siucra perform several times, and have talked with Shannon afterwards and that smile never fades nor does her musical perfection.

They are well worth checking out. I’d like to see them live some time.

Angela!

I hope you practice really hard! That’s an awesome opportunity! I check in with her every now and then when she’s in town… of when I’m in Boston… But man, you could do a lot worse! Matt’s a great bodhran player too… He helped me get started…

Well, cool… hopefullly they have received many clicks on their new website! Thanks everyone for checking them out!

Oh, almost forgot! I just sent Shannon a box full of whistles for her to put together sound clips for our site! I’m really looking forward to hearing how they turned out. I should have them tomorrow and I’ll try to put them on the site tomorrow if UPS gets the CD here before I head out to the session in Denver…
