On a recent thread on this forum I have mentioned the pipemaker Davy Stephenson the English maker.I have been informed by him that there is a possibility that he may lose business because of my comments. That would be really terrible as those of you who have his sets are very pleased with them.If you were considering buying from him then you should not be put off by my comments which were aimed at the thread.I stress once again that I cannot comment on his sets but those of you who own them can.In order to redress this it maybe an idea for positive feedback
in his direction on this board.Mr Stephenson has said that he has sold many sets in the UK and I wish him well. The best way to be known is by word of mouth so the more he sells the better known he will be I hope.I repeat If you were thinking of buying from him and were perhaps put off by my comments then please rethink and look at all the positive things that have been said about him
Thankyou
Uilliam
Thanks Liam. I agree. I could be one of those. But, my decision would never be affected by someone elses remarks, good or bad, if I didn’t really know the person who remarked, or knew the maker–either one REAL well. So don’t worry! I doubt if anyone else looking for pipes would have any different standard. Remarks can send the undecided/uninformed either way, you never know. It would make me more curious.
I’m going to be ordering a full set of new pipes from someone soon, maybe Davy, maybe Seth, maybe someone else, but I’m in the middle of a new radical idea right now.
I’d like to rearrange the configuration of the regulators. I’ve never been real fond of the bass reg, nor use it much. I tend to use only 2 keys at a time, when I do use them.
So, my choice of a maker would depend on a lot of things. I’ll post my preference for a new regulator design on another thread, soon, for some advice and feedback, and see what you think. It’s full of new chords.
