DANGER! Patrick Olwell Flute Scam on Ebay

Hello everyone, I am putting out a warning regarding a fraudulent listing of a six key Patrick Olwell flute on ebay. The seller claims to offer a six keyed cocuswood flute made by Patrick Olwell, with northwind case. The listing uses photographs taken from Patrick Olwell’s original listing for one of his birthday flutes which sold in June 2016. I have been in contact with Patrick Olwell regarding this matter and he confirms the listing is fraudulent.

I wrote to the seller and asked them to provide their own photos instead of Patrick’s photos (from his original ad last year), and maybe provide 1 photo with them and the flute together in same photo.
Never heard back from them. red flag.

I saw that ebay listing yesterday evening and wondered why the seller would not cross-post on this forum.

Hmmmm, if it looks too good to be true, then it probably is not.

uni flute, can you clarify specifically what Patrick said that confirms the eBay auction is fraudulent? Specifically, did he say he has been in contact with the current owner of flute # 1300 (or is that #1800? the stamp looks like #1300 on my phone screen), and the owner confirms it is not for sale?

No mention what key the flute is anywhere I could find. Thought that was odd.

Patrick assures me that this listing is not genuine, and that it has also been used for fraudulent purposes before.

The seller’s feedback is nonexistent, too.

I see the Olwells have posted to their Facebook page that they have indeed been in touch with the owner of the pictured flute and have confirmed it is not for sale. So, either a bunch of people are bidding on another Olwell, or someone is going to get an unpleasant surprise. Has anyone here reported the auction to eBay?

Hoorah! The scam listing appears to have been pulled down.
