Well, granted that synthetic oils don’t rot flutes, but I’d as soon not inhale chemical fumes while I’m playing, so I use almond oil. And thread is better for boxwood flutes because you can adjust it easily as the flute responds to changes in humidity. And I’ve got three Olwell bamboo flutes that are all in tune with themselves, despite their cylindrical bores.
