Dance Music of Willie Clancy

Hey - I have been looking for this book and it’s not at NPU, E-Bay, or Amazon…

Can anyone point me in the right direction so I can buy this book? I love the work of Willie Clancy and would want anything to do with his music and piping.

Thanks in advance.

It’s been out of print for some time now. I found two copies available through www.abebooks.com but they are kind of pricy:

Get the most recent printing if you have a choice. My 1983 print of the first (1976) edition was printed on really low quality paper, like heavy newsprint, and has gone brown around the edges. I’ve seen a later printing that was on much better paper.

I found a first (1976) edition for around $60.00. This after my second printing was lost in a senseless dumpster tragedy. The quality of the photos in the first printing were/are better than in the second.

Try, is it Song of the Sea, up the East Coast of the USA. Also, try EBay UK; for it may be that is where I obtained my copy. OK, some extra cost of shipping… but

Are you hanging out with “The Cheerleader” in alleys these days? Do you really need a manual on how to make her sing the proper notes?

Come see Doctor Glands and we’ll talk.

Hi,

A while back I got a copy of this book from Wally Charm at the Seattle pipers group. He might still have an extra copy or two. Here is a link:

Thanks to all of you guys out there…getting new ideas and sharing good information is what it all about.

Slan,

Though I doubt that it is yet out of copyright, it would be great if someone scanned this and other classic piping books to PDF’s. I have gotten hours of enjoyment of of the scans of old Pipers Reviews and An Píobaire’s.

Here’s a suggestion for anyone who wants this book: Try your local public library. I called mine and they were able to locate it at the public library in Pittsburgh PA. They arranged an inter-library loan and had the book shipped to my local library, all free of charge. I picked it up yesterday and now I can keep it until the end of the month.

All the best,
Joe

I know that NPU are currently in the process of scanning in alot of old publications, including The dance music of Willie Clancy, no idea when it will be finished and up on the site though.

It might be worth your while searching through the book collection at your local Irish Import Shop. I found the DMWC and The Rowsome Tutor at mine in Los Angeles at 1980 prices. That was 12 or 13 years ago now though.

Pat.

Thanks to everybody - including, Joe, Mac and Fr. Pat.

By the way, Pat…change your image on the screen - IT’S FREAKIN’ ME OUT, MAN ! :astonished: :astonished: :astonished:
