Ok - on a High D whistle have a buzz “sometimes” on the D and I can feel air pulsing under my fingers when it happens. I can change the placement of my fingers and it goes away .. sometimes. Now I would say that I am not closing off the hole but there are times that no matter where my fingers are .. it will buzz a little on the D. Any suggestions on fixes ..

If the whistle used to play without a buzz, clean the windway. I soak mine in a glass of water for a few minutes and that usually works. If not, I tear a strip off a business card and slide it through the windway to gently scrub it.

Hydrogen Peroxide will fizz away a lot of unwanted crud and will loosen up most of the rest. You should have seen the show when we put the mouthpiece of a recently aquired clarinet in some of the stuff!!!
I have found that if i take a piece of 1000 fine grit sand paper and cut a piece to run gently through the mouth piece and then take a very small piece of “poster puddy” (the stuff youcan buy to put up posters) and place it in the “cup” of the mouth piece (making sure to keep it away fro the air way" and packing it in smoothly. That this cures the problem and produces a smooth transition between lower and upper octives.
Can you use hydrogen peroxide on wooden fipples/whistle heads, or only polymer?
