Curly Maple Busking Reed (Hunter Palosanto Concert Chanter)

This might be a first (?)..l made a curly maple reed for a concert chanter. I feel this a very good playing and nice sounding reed (thanks to a great chanter) that is quite resistant to climate changes/extremes. Perhaps, now I can get properly ignored while playing through my entire repertoire. instead of having to stop after 10 minutes, due to a reed that starts to die from the 'oul summer-combo: “extreme heat-high humidity .”

*Please don’t mind the playing…I’m not very practiced.

I don’t think I would have guessed that’s a wooden reed. Congratulations are in order I’d say!

Thank You. It took quite a bit of doing, so the payoff of the tone/performance + recognition from a maker is great! Thanks again!

Sounds great, did you make the reed?

Yes… as per all of my posts of Curly Maple (thanks). I just edited my orig. post, and noted it.

Wow! I’m just a beginner but it sure sounds like a nice user-friendly reed to me.

Sounds very nice!! Way to go!

May I ask where you got the Maple?
Also, did you use the same process as you’d
use for arundo donax?

Thanks!
