Cuigiu Lasses

There’s an Irish tune (jig) in a book I have called ‘The Cuigiu Lasses’. Can someone tell me how ‘Cuigiu’ is meant to be pronounced?

The tune (I looked it up just now) appears to me very similar to ‘The Flowers of the Burren’ that the old Kilfenora used to play. Nice tune though, just different enough.

Ha! The recording gives how to pronounce the English word “fifth”.

I assume that due to the accents both u’s would be fully pronounced and not reduced.
