Anyone know what Seamus plays on Crested Hens on the first Solas album? Copeland low-D? Flute?

Yeah, you can see him in action with his Copeland on Solas’ tape/DVD… quite worth it!!
I may have to track down that DVD.
By the way, do any of you have the latest Solas disc “The Edge of Silence”? If you’re a trad purist, pass on this one, but if you’re a rocker like me, get it! I know it’s hard to imagine Seamus with a Stratocaster around his neck, but he makes it sound SOOOOO good!

You’re kidding about the Stratocaster, right? And I complain that the last time I saw them he played too much nylon guitar. Any guitar playing takes time away from his flute playing.
I noticed that they’ve done a Tom Waits song on the album, too.

I’m kinda-sorta kidding. On this disc, Seamus is credited for concert flute, low whistle, banjo, nylon string guitar, electric guitar, and piano. True, there isn’t as much whistle as in previous discs. It was recorded at Bearsville Studio in Bearsville, NY, which is the same place where 10,000 Maniacs (R.I.P. Rob Buck) and R.E.M. record, and you can hear that influence throughout. So, I guess if you’re a Natalie Merchant fan, get it.
hi, speaking of dvd and whistles: does anyone of you know if there are any dvds out specially for the whistle (low, high also good) lover?

As far as I know, he is playing a Copeland low D in concert but on the CD a B Flute.
