I was at a really crowed session last night and put some pressure accidently on my flute. It cracked! The crack is in the head, in the socket area. It starts at the socket and goes about 3/4 inch into the head. Looks like it’s mostly in the socket area. For a temporary fix so it doesn’t spread, I installed a nylon tie wrap near the end of the socket. It’s an all-wood tenon flute. Is this something that I can repair? If not me, who would be a good repair person? Thanks, John.

Maybe it would be best to send it back to Olwell to fix. See if you can have him put some rings on it.
Thats the problem with the all wood flutes, the socket is the weak link.

I thought that was the weak point too, and I was right! Hmm, rings might do it. But I’ll wait until the new flute arrives this spring. The cork job he did took forever, he’s really busy. And yes it was at the Fishtale pub session. By the way, they are going to find a new place, it’s way too crowded with customers now. Some of the players were turned back last night. J.
