In betwixt and between other summertime activities, I’ve been busy in the shop. I sort of got ahead of myself with some whistles started on speculation, so I have some really nice wooden (and otherwise) wooden tubes that can be finished up into whistles on short order. F

From the left are:
Orange laminate
Purple laminate
Green laminate-- finished D+ whistle (needs final polish)
These laminates are thin layers of Birch or some similar wood laminated with phenolic resins under extreme pressure. They’re quite durable and water resistant. The colors are truly striking.
To continue:
African Blackwood
Pau Rosa
Cocobolo
Olivewood
Pink Ivory (wood, not ivory)
Mesquite
Burmese Blackwood (not as black as the African variety, nice grain)
Spalted Tamarind (just a rough turned piece, but I couldn’t resist checking it out)
I also have an Acetal polymer tube ready to go.
I can provide this image in better resolution if anyone’s interested.
As always, I have other interesting woods in the woodpile if you don’t see anything to your taste here.
Thanks for looking!
