It’s been quite some time since I’ve made a commercial post so I’d like to update whats been going on for me. My web designers (John Trivers of Rogue Valley Computing and Eric Warren of Rogue Design Group) have just completed work on my new website and I’m very happy with the new look. I welcome a visit from you so click here, www.reyburnwhistles.com for a look.
I’ve also completed a new design of my latest Low D which I call the “Big Head Session Low D”. This beauty is the loudest of the two Low Ds I make and is suitable for small to medium sized sessions. The name refers to the large head which raises the wall around the window and strengthens the bottom end and bell note of the instrument. The beak of the head is turned down to offer a more comfortable feel in the mouth. This is the same technique I use on my soprano Session D.
This whistle has more breathiness and a bit of edge compared to my standard Low D and plays very well tonally thru the octave transition. Breath requirements are a bit more than the standard version but still not a breath hog. I recommend this new version for acoustic play and continue to recommend my standard model for amplification and recording, as it plays with a purer tone.
I’ve also added an A whistle to my line which is available as a set (one head two bodies) with the Bb.
Aside from that I’m enjoying the Fall colors which are just now showing up here in Ashland and the first rain of the season is expected tonight. Also getting ready for Halloween a big event here in town.
So keep on whistlin and thanks for enriching the world with your music.
Be well
