Phil at Big Whistle has been gracious and very patient waiting for me to catch up with whistles for his UK establishiment.
Most of my whistles are available again at the www.bigwhistle.co.uk website, and any that aren’t yet available there will be soon.
For anyone in the UK or anywhere in the EU, this means a much shorter transit time for getting your whistles, and it means customs costs have already been included in the amount Big Whistle charges, so there will be no customs duty surprises or delays.
During the last several months, I’ve improved my production capacity considerably, which means I will be able to keep Freeman Whistles in stock at Big Whistle on a much more continuous basis.
I noticed, great news. If only I had known before ordering my Shaw I would’ve gotten one of your Gen Ds too. It’ll give me another excuse to buy again though, haha.
Incidentally, are you planning on tweaking any more Shaws (a high D to be precise…) to perhaps send to BigWhistle? I’m quite interested in trying one of yours since I heard you tweaked them too? Any idea of the cost if you would?
I don’t buy Shaws and tweak them as I used to do. They cost too much for me to invest the money up front. However, I do tweak them occasionally for people who want them. If they don’t already have the whistle, I suggest they order from Elderly Instruments and have it shipped directly to me.
The charge for tweaking a Shaw is $19.00 plus $6.00 postage = $25.00 total. The results are very good, with the caveat that Shaws tend to have some intonation problems, especially near the top of the upper register, not matching the lower. Someone just posted that he loves his Freeman tweaked Shaw, but he can’t use it in sessions.
