At long last, I’m very happy to announce that Beckendorf chanters are now for sale!
Beckendorf chanters is a project my brother and I started together, with the goal of making affordable chanters that sound & feel good, as well as being reliable. They are 3D printed from resin, making them stable and durable. All chanters are hand-finished, and I fully handmake the reeds from Spanish cane.
Apart from being 3D printed, there are a few notable features of our chanters:
Shorter reed-caps:
I do a lot of travelling, and the problem I encountered was that my chanter was too long to fit in a carry-on bag. By slightly shortening the reed-cap, the chanters now fit comfortably on a diagonal inside a suitcase.
Stop-valve:
My favourite feature is a chanter wind cap that functions as a stop-valve. By twisting the top knob, the air supply to the chanter is cut off to make tuning the drones easier. As an integral design feature, it doesn’t add any additional bulk or weight to the chanter, and comes standard on all chanters. The cork seal may require occasional greasing if it starts to become stiff.
