Cowon D2 mp3 player

Hi,

Anyone have any experience with this?

My iRiver recently encountered some concrete and so I’m on the hunt for a replacement. My requirements are:

  1. Flash (so that the concrete isn’t as much of a concern)
  2. big enough to hold most of my music collection (16GB I think is the smallest I’d want)
  3. All (or at least lots of) formats can be played (wma, mp3, aac, flaac, ogg, etc etc)
  4. Records wav / mp3 from ext. mic (and int. mic. If I can be convinced an internal will have as good a quality I’d be happy with that) and from other audio sources (ie, records)
  5. Plug and play. No itunes or other garbage in between me dropping music files (or any files) onto my device.
  6. Video (optional)

The Cowon D2 seems to have all of them, except it records in wma. In addition, though, it has slots for extra flash cards. And touchscreen.

Follow-up question: Should I consider the S9?

I loved mine D2
but it drowned in the pint
and it hasn’t been the same ever since.

the Cowon D2 is on my list of toys I’m buying myself when I complete this stinkin degree.

One of the few players that plays open source formats natively with 100% support.

Ok, so the list of native-supported open source format players gets shorter and shorter every day…

But still…

can you look at this and say it’s not cool!!??

A little work and this could become an interesting haiku.

Haven’t we all?

really?
so I’m not the only one?

There once was a D2 from Ennis
Which drowned in a pint glass of Guinness
I miss it quite sorely,
For my iPod does poorly
When I’m jumping around playing tennis.

(What’s that? Oh haiku… sorry.)

It’s very nice, I’ll stick with my Sectéra® Edge™ though.
