Recently got my Overton (whee!) from Tayberry.com . Was really excited then, since it was the last one they had (heh). Now it’s here, since last Wednesday, and I can never stop looking at it - it’s so well made.
On the playing side, I’d say much nicer in all ways. I’d also say, now, that it’s slightly easier than the Dixon Low D, though more expensive. Tonal range is excellent. A same amount of breath/+pressure used for the Dixon could push the Dixon to the 2nd Octave, while for the Overton, it stayed in the first octave (I’m talking the low D note) with the same amount. And kept on going louder until reaching the second D! Soooo wonderful!
BTW, the felt case is cool too. More coming, once my exams finish next week. (oh yeah, Overtons DO help you go thru exams
