Copeland whistles

Does anybody know how to contact Copeland Woodwinds and receive a reply? I ordered two whistles from them and they are over 200 whistles PAST my order number and haven’t answered three e-mail queries. They don’t have a listed phone number.

Any ideas?

Their order numbers do not work entirely as you might think. From what I understand, it depends on what key your whistles are in. Copeland Woodwinds creates whistles in large batches of a single key and/or metal (usually around 50 if they can help it). If you ordered a key that is made infrequently such as F, A, or Bb you could be in for a wait. My Bb was shipped on 8/1/01 while a number higher than mine was shipped on 3/14/00. This was only a few days after my order was taken. I don’t think they had a rush of 30 orders in a few days so I don’t think the numbers are entirely sequential. Therefore I don’t know that 200 order numbers is the best measure of your order in the cue. If you scroll through the list you will only see one Bb was produced in all that time. But there were nearly a dozen Bb whistles shipped during the next 10 days. Bb whistles are made with A whistles which is why there was over two dozen A whistles all shipped during that time. Low D whistles and D whistles are produced much more frequently (higher demand) and produced very regularly.

I was also luckey to know that odd keys are produced irregularly, so I expected a wait. Just for the record, I did write to Jim and Mike that I was not in a hurry, so I didn’t expect them to be in one.

I have to agree with Mark here…
It mostly depends on what key your whistle is in…They’re past my order # too. However, I’ve ordered a sterling silver whistle, and am told that they just got the silver in recently (or just found a supply..or something like that..in any case, I got the impression that the silver whistles would start getting made ‘soon’).
If you look at their ‘recent shipments’ page, you can see they just made a run on Brass D’s, and then made a few odd-key instruments (about 300#'s behind in the order # sequence). Just the way of things, I imagine.

This is just my opinion, but they are truly worth the wait. Bottom line.
