Copeland flute

I got to try a Copeland flute tonight. It was a keyless, in Brazilian rosewood (jacarandá), with slide and rings in some yellow metal (probably brass). It looked very nice.

I liked it. It definitely had a very individual feeling, different from all other flutes i’ve played. Large sound, but not aggressive; very pleasant. Blowhole almost round, not very large, fingerholes not very large.

I had a go on a blackwood Copeland. It had what I would call automatic tone. I was instantly and easily able to achieve a big, reedy sound. So it was a good match for my embouchure at least.

Cheers,
