Do any of you know of a website that carries song sheets for contemporary type tunes…like easy listening (i.e. Vincent, Don McKeon?)
Most of the places I seem to find are not free.
Thanks in advance!!

Don McLean?
Anything not in the public domain would not be free. This is how artists make a living.
Hi Nancy,
There’s a huge list of link to check out here:
http://www.freesheetmusic.net/General_Sheet_Music.html
But as FJohn says, your use of the word ‘contemporary’ automatically suggests copyright, and thus money. Probably your best bet is a local music store, and books of the kind “100 popular hits for guitar” or sumsuch.
HTH,
PS…
Although if it’s just lyrics and chords you’re looking for, try here:
Thanks John,…yes…your spelling of Don’s name is probably correct.
I was just using that song as an example…maybe I should have stated public domain songs of a contemporary nature…children’s songs…I found a few on Ceolas Celtic Music archive…I was wondering if there were others.
Thanks in advance!
Nancy
Has a very large collection of downloadable (midi) tunes with lyrics for many types of public domain ‘world folk’ music. Well worth a look. But there’re no “dots and scratches”, so if by song sheets you mean sheet music, then I’m not helping very much and I’ll…just…go and stand over there now… ![]()
I agree that perhaps the easier route to to download or buy some software that displays and prints MIDIs as standard sheet music, and then look for free MIDIs. There a ton of them and many arrangements are on a professional level. One catch is that finding melody-only arrangements for playing on a solo instrument often involves looking at a lot of pieces to find one.
Thanks Gary and Bill…Those links were awesome!! I have found quite a few songs there…but, yes, you do have to sift through alot of stuff!!
I wanted to learn how to play some children’s songs…and some songs that kids would know…and some other songs that hubby may like. (He doesn’t like Irish…I DON’T KNOW WHY!!) So, I told him that I would look. I can play alot by ear, but I don’t have any children’s songs, and others that I would like to know. Found an interesting link to Civil war tunes that I’m going to investigate. A great resource on folk music too!!
Thanks everyone!!
Nancy
