If anyone plays concert flute, I would be very happy if they would please tell me an alternate fingering for Ab that is more reliable than RH 3-4-5. I’m trying to play a song that consistantly runs up to that high Ab.

Hmm, I’m a little rusty but I’ll try to help. By “high Ab” I assume you mean the third octave(right?). I don’t know what you mean exactly by RH 3-4-5, but this is the fingering I learned.o 2 3 G# o o o Eb The o’s are open keys, I think it’s pretty self-explanatory. Try that.
siesflutes: Sorry for the confusion. I’ve never typed out a fingering before. What you typed is the unresponsive fingering that I’m trying to avoid.

Are you referring to the Boehm flute here? Why is that a concert flute anymore than a simple system flute. Ever been to a Baroque music concert or Renaisance music concert? Or a concert by an Indian flautist playing a bamboo flute.
Anyway the receipt for my Seery blackwood Irish flute states,
“Wicklow concert flute”.
I take exception to people acceding to the majority flute monopolising the term “concert flute”. I am mighty riled.

Sure it does. But if it had been posted there, you would’ve missed your opportunity to let us know that it does. 
I’ve always used the “seisflutes” fingering. In fact I never used any other so I wasn’t sure what other alternate fingerings there were.
