Has anyone ever traced a good template with the measured lines and the tail in place and the center line with tips cut on angle? If so, can you post it here? thanks…cheers.
Hey John,
NPU offers a template for Cillian’s reeds.
Here’s the link: http://store.pipers.ie/store/product/8009/Template----------------------/

Thanks I saw that. At $45 it’s a bit dear at the moment. A paper cut out could certainly do the trick as well. Thanks though. That’s a keeper
You’ll find template measurements in all of the good reedmaking manuals (Quinn, Hegarty, Britton, Sky, etc.). Draw your own template on some graph paper and then use a scissors to cut it out.
If you want to make a metal template, use the paper template the draw the outline on some thin metal sheet. I’ve used aluminum siding (hardware) and 0.025" copper or brass sheet (hobby shop). Then use metal snips to cut out the rough template. You can tidy up the edges and make fine adjustments with 320 grid sandpaper.
