Has anyone seen the northern lights from the recent solar flares?
I read they would be visible in Scotland too. It’s been too cloudy to see them in Detroit.

What I heard from the news is that they were seen quite well even in Northern Germany. Many people called the UFO helpline. 
Here in Finland it’s also too claudy right now, but I hope for better weather during the weekend. Last year (about same time of the year) I saw my best northern lights ever seen. Bright green, red, yellow lights … :roll: … so eyes upwards to the sky!

The sun seems to be rather active atm.
A big flare has hit us yesterday so the aurora from that has gone but supposedly there are some enormous sunspots on the flipside of the sun right now which could cause for some big CME’s next week. 
So you should see some nice aurora when the weather clears Thies.
I will be prepared. Both the digital camera as well as the good old fashioned Pentax with its 19mm wide-angle lens will be ready to shoot. I will be in the “middel of nowhere” without any disturbing lights for the next 30 kms. Let’s see if the “hunt” is successful.
I quickly looked up the SOHO site so you can monitor sun activity if you like.
