Hey guys. Im looking to get a practice set here pretty soon, and I was wondering if there are any decent quality sound clips available, so I can hear the way different pipes sound. Some ive found are too poor a quality to be able to tell. As far as uilleann pipes go, Im learning towards the mellower sounding ones.
As of now, im looking at a Lynch or Gallagher practice set. Any other suggestions wouldbe great. Thanks a lot! -William

Internet speeds really limit the sound quality for downloads. Streaming really good quality sound clips would put a strain on servers.
You’d probably get a much better idea by listening in person at the nearest tionól. Try and get around to as many people as you can. Sit in on some classes if possible. People don’t have to be great players for you to get some impression of the capabilities of sets by different makers.

Listening in person is much better. Recordings will likely introduce all sorts of factors that you’d have to take into consideration (ie. micing technique, microphones used, room / location it’s recorded, &c).

While I think that the Clips and Snips is a great way to share tunes, since we’re limited to 32kbit MP3 format, I wouldn’t use it as a comparison basis since the fidelity is severly limited.
