COMMERCIAL POST: November Update

New for November is the ‘Journeyman’ model whistle… the same mouthpiece as the Stealth, but with a thick aluminum tube.
A limited number of keys are currently available, but more are on the way.
I discontinued the 9/16" diameter wide bore D and replaced it with a 17/32" (1/2" bore) version that isn’t so demanding in the upper register.
I also discontinued the 3/4" (11/16" bore) wide bore A, and plan to replace it with 21/32" (5/8" bore) version (Stealth and Journeyman).
For those who are curious about what an offset right pinkie hole looks like, the Journeyman whistle pictured on my website is a D+… it’s actually a 9-hole special order, but you can’t see the bottom two thumb holes.
There are minor changes in the price of some keys, but everyone currently on my waiting list will still be charged the price listed at the time they placed their order.

I’m reading that the aluminum tubes have a better-in-tune cross-fingered Cn than the brass ones. Why is that?

I’m a curious person by nature, I think.

The aluminum tubes are thicker, so the ‘chimney height’ of the tone holes has a more pronounced effect.
On a thin tube, the 6th tone hole must be quite small to bring the cross-fingered flattened 7th into tune… often so small that it makes the note too weak, so the hole must be made a little larger, which makes the cross-fingered flattened 7th a bit sharp.
The added effect of chimney height on a thicker tube allows the 6th tone hole to be large enough to produce a solid note, while still being small enough to produce an in tune cross-fingered flattened 7th.

That clears that up! I think when I order a whistle from you (hopefully soon!), I’ll have to get both.

yihaaa, I wanna order now.
