Does anyone know where I could find any classical sheet music for the whistle? What instruments range resembles that of the whistle?
While I d love Irish music I’m also interested in playing other forms of music on the whistle; Classical, Japanese and Chinese Folk and just about any music that will suit the whistle. Is there anyone with the same interests?
At http://www.tradfrance.com/a09.htm you can find a bunch of traditional French tunes in ABC format. Some of them are very nice.
I’ve been working on getting some traditional Japanese songs into whistle-friendly keys, but don’t have anything on the web yet. Japanese music can sound very nice on either the whistle of flute. I suppose I could post some preliminary ABC stuff…
Hi! Any music store should have books of classical music for flute. Any tune in the key of D (two sharps in the key sig) should work out well on a D whistle. Same for C, A, and so on. You might have to change notes from low to high or vice versa to get them into an octave you can play, but otherwise it should work just fine.

Hey there, I sometimes try to play bossa nova or jazz on my whistle, with little success. Baroque stuff can be played on the whistle as well, like some Bach cantatas. Chinese folk dizi music goes very well the whistle and I get access to this quite a lot, being in a traditional Chinese orchestra. It sound especially “authentic” when you use a very sweet and bright whistle.
