Classic music venues? (Very OT)

Hi.

Sorry to add yet another OT post. I’m taking my sixth grade band on a tour of the surrounding school districts in April, and I want to make tour T-shirts for them.

I thought it would be cool to make them look like rock band tour shirts, with all the venues on the back, i.e. Carnegie Hall, New York; Red Rocks Colorado; Sydney Opera House, Australia; etc.

Any other suggestions? I figure you guys will be the ones to come up with some interesting suggestions. Thanks!
Tom

Will people please stop apologizing for OT threads? If it weren’t for those, I’d have no excuse but to do my work…

Since it is classical music Tom, how about something like “Classical Musicians-The original hippies” With a pic of Beathoven hair streaming on the front and a list of the schools you are touring on the back with the dates?

It isn’t all classical music. I’m not one of THOSE kind of directors.

How could you possibly miss the Grand Ole Opry???

Not well known to everyone, but it should be:

One of the absolutely best acoustic halls in the world, this hall has hosted nearly everyone in the classical music world starting with Paderewski, including Perlman, Marian Anderson, Rampal, many of the major symphony orchestras, etc. The hall has a terrific jazz history: Dizzy, Goodman, Rebman, Marsalis, you name it! Not to be outdone in the Celtic vein, Greenfields of America, Solas, Cherish the Ladies have played the hall and praised the lush sound ( got to hang out a bit with Joanie last time they were here). Amazing place, and worthy of a spot on your T-Shirt.

That’s a great idea!

I enjoyed playing these intimate venues on my last tour:

Festspielhaus in Bayreuth, Germany (Wagner’s home court)
Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles
Kennedy Center in DC

And you really should give the tour a catchy name:
“The Useless Euphonium Tour” or
“Drums along the Platte Tour” or
“The 1001 Tinwistles Tour”
Or something that is actually good.

Venues

The Barns of Wolf Trap, Vienne, VA.
The Birchmere, Alexandria, VA.

Tour Names:
Wyoming Wonders Wandering.
Rocky Mountain Melody Meander.

I was also going to mention Syria Mosque in Pittsburgh. I had a number of fond memories of singing there and going to concerts, when I was a youngun’. I found out they tore the place down 10 years ago.

So Tom,
Have you taught them Beathoven on the Candy Slide Whistle yet?

Ron, no, they don’t learn the candy slide whistle 'til 8th grade. Thanks for bringing back a great memory.
