So I just came from an associate’s house and he (unbeknownst to me) has been learning whistle. He showed it to me and I said " that’s the coolest looking Sweetone."
“No,” says he “it’s Celtic.”
“No s**t,” says I “but it’s a Clarke right?”
“Well yes.” was the reply.
“The model is a Sweetone.” I had to inform this person who was obviously not as savy in the ways of the Tinwhistle as I.
Now I’ve never been good at taking advice (most notably my own(see my signature)) and this was eminently evident today as my associate goes into and out of his house, whereupon he produces the paper that was included with his Clarke. Sure enough it said “Clarke Celtic Tinwhistle Key of D”.
D’oh, open mouth insert foot.
And now to the point. Where in the heck did he get it? Does anybody know?
It WAS a Sweetone, but it had a granite-green paint job w/ a gold trinity knot and, it, was, COOL. It sounded great, and looked sharp, and I want one really bad.
Help.

Shanna Quay do them for 14 euro including shipping. You’ll have to figure which is cheaper for you. The box will probably be bit squashed by the postal service, if that matters to you.
I’ve got one for the interest, but I don’t play it much. I actually preferred the Meg I got in the same order (actually for free), which sounds cleaner, and is cheaper (especially when it’s free).
You can buy these at many of the same places that sell. I got one because I wanted a Sweetone but couldn’t stomach the childish colors or Sweetone “graphic”. Alas, my gold “celtic knot” wore off rather quickly

I have a Sweetone, and admittedly I never play it. It sounds OK but, I like my Clarke original better, they’re both in C. But this one sounded good and it really caught my eye. More importantly I just wanted to prove to him that I knew that of which I spoke, 'cause I’m just that vain.
So now I’ll order one and all will be right with the (my) world.
If you’re ordering it for the sound, you might as well order a Meg… from what’s been said here on the board, it’s clear they’re all the same whistle. Same as other kinds of whistles, some play better, that’s all. So you had no need to be embarrassed for calling your friend’s whistle a Sweetone. It was. They just count on beginners saying, “Oh, it has a different paint job, that makes it a different whistle!” It is pretty cool looking though, en’t it?
oh and the logo wears off as well. unfortunately, the paint doesn’t.
