clarke whistle in childrens' classic

I think I’ve read this book before without noticing… take a look at Mary Ann Hoberman’s book entitled “A House is a House for Me,” from 1978. There’s a picture of a boy with a Clarke whistle, a black and gold one. There is a staff with the music for “My Dog Has Fleas” but the kid has the whistle upside down. Has anyone else seen this one?

How did I not notice this when my girls were little, reading picture books?

Check it out from your local library. It’s a fun little book, with great illustrations by Betty Fraser. Wonder what made her draw the kid blowing into the wrong end? :confused:

Yeah, I kinda laughed when I saw that one too. It all comes down to poor research. The uilleann pipes I can see someone getting wrong, but a tin whistle? Even my fiddler friend saw it when i showed it to him the first time. Every time I see the book, I have to look to see if by any chance they fixed it in a later printing. The rest of the book is great.
