Clack Valve woe

My clack valve leaks. I tried to make a new one. That leaked as well
Had another go Still leaks. :cry:
Any advice in making an air tight Clack Valve instead of a leaky CRAP valve :frowning:

Hi Ben,

Try this method, might work for you.

  1. punch a hole in some thick scrap leather - the same size as the inner dia of your valve.

  2. cut round this leaving a few cm all round.

  3. clean and evostick the end of valve and evo the leather (smooth side) while your at it.

  4. when dry bring together so that hole is dead centre.

  5. trim around outside of valve to remove excess leather ( use razor blade).

  6. using end of valve as a template - draw around end (placed on leather).

  7. cut out & copy once more.

  8. take one leather blank and (very carefully) score from one side to the other (5mm or so from the end) only going about 1/2 way through the leather.

  9. move up from this cut a few mm and with the blade angled cut a triangular section out of the leather - meeting at the end of the last cut.

  10. apply evo to the hinge and the top of the valve (non smooth to non smooth) and glue.

  11. with the spare leather blank cut a section that will fit to the bottom of the valve, to stop just below the mid point. this just provides added weight and helps the valve close.

hope some of this makes sense -a picture would be better but not sure how to post one!
