God bless him. What a lovely man.

Very sad. May he rest in peace.
Patrick.
Sad indeed,
I have memories of the signature tune from his Sunday morning program in my head.
May he rest in peace.
Here’s an episode of Mac Mathúna’s show, A Job of Journeywork, which featured the great Joe Cooley. Cooleywas back from America shortly before his death, and was travelling with a younger american box player named John Lavelle. I believe some of the tracks made it onto Cooley’s posthumus LP, but here they are in context.
This is sad news. It has not been a good week for Irish music. Liam Clancy also passed away.
