Looks like all sytems are go. I just got word from Chuck that he’s going into the hospital tomorrow for his knee revision. I’m sure best wishes and lots of prayers will go out to him. Gm
Hi Betty,
I’m sure that everyone hopes that he will soon recover and once again add his welcome comments to this community of his friends. He certainly has my best wishes and prayers for a very successful operation.
Best wishes, Tom
Just got an email from Chuck’s wife. He is out of the hospital as of today and back at his mothers. Knee is doing OK but he has a cracked tibia so will be 4 to 6 wks before he can put full weight on it. He is in a lot of pain. Hope it won’t be for long. I sent his wife a big HUG…figured she could use it about now.

Hi again Betty,
Poor Chuck is sure having more than his share of trouble. I hope they can at least give him something to ease his pain. Thanks for the update. If he can feel well enough to play his whistle to help pass the time that would be great news.
Best wishes, Tom
Any one have further news?
i think he’s coming along…slowly but surely…I hope. He stopped by the chatroom briefly a night or two ago and said hello.
Yo Chuck ! If you read this…please respond and bring us up to date…Gm
Lee, Tom, GM and everyone,
Sorry I haven’t said much lately. As you may recall, I’m not at my own home, so I’m pretty careful not to tie up my folks’ phone line with web time. That and still not really physically up to long sessions.
As Betty reported, I got lucky and was hospitalized for a new knee on Jan 4, over a month ahead of schedule. It went OK, except for a minor complication that limits how quickly I’ll be able to put full weight on it. I’ve been out a week now, though to be honest I think four days hospitalization for a total knee replacement is pretty skimpy (insurance, don’t you know). Still a fair amount of pain, especially connected to physical therapy, but every day gets better.
I still probably won’t be by daily, but do swing by the board every couple of days to see what’s come up. I’m frankly awed by some of the questions coming up and some of the new members comments. It wasn’t really all that long ago that we felt like a tiny boat of whistlers being swamped in the “Gittar” sea. Now if you read C&F often enough, you even get a sense of whistle empowerment. Wow!
Thanks to everyone for all the good wishes.
Chuck
